Neighborhood Services provides White Plains Youth the opportunity to participate in a variety of programs and activities that encourage positive development.

Students are taught how to play chess and/or strategies to help them improve their chess games as well as life skills.

This workshop meets Saturdays 2- 3 pm.

GENERATIONS CONNECT: HEART-2-HEART

Generations Connect Heart 2 Heart is an intergenerational program which provides services to seniors and young people to enhance the lives of both generations. Meetings are held bi-weekly and activities are planned at least once a month.

SPORTS & RECREATION

The gym operates five days per week for White Plains youth 12-24 years of age. Some activities which take place in the gym are basketball, soccer, and flag football. There is an annual basketball tournament.

YOUTH ON STAGE

Youth on Stage is the Youth Bureau's performing arts program operated by Neighborhood Services. The program features several dance programs, an acting class, filming, hip hop music production and a drumming program.

Evolution, the Hip Hop dance program for youth with previous hip hop dance experience is conducted in partnership with the Steffi Nossen School of Dance. Enrollment in this class is limited to 15 and takes place in October and February. Participants perform in a Spring concert and at community events.

Fusion I and II are begineer and advanced dance classes that include Jazz, modern and hip hop. Lizzette Aquino provides the instruction.

African & Caribbean Dance  - Adanna Smith-Wilson teaches beginning, intermediate and advanced African & Caribbean dance classes.

StudioStage at Play Group Theatre  - Students meet once or twice a week at Play Group Theatre for a variety of acting classes. Enrollment takes place in September and February.
