Sajith Matthews

Sajith Matthews

Sajith Matthews was a member of the White Plains Youth Council from 1998-2000. He served as its president during his senior year in high school from 1999-2000. He went on to major in Molecular Biology at the University of Pittsburgh graduating summa cum laude. After graduation in 2004, he entered medical school at Howard University College of Medicine, followed by residency at Wayne State University. He is currently a member of the faculty in the Department of Internal Medicine at Wayne State University, where his duties include research and teaching. He is also the newly appointment medical director of the clinical lab at Integrative Biosciences Center. He is happily married to his wife Sharon and they have one son, Nathan Vivek Matthews. They currently reside in the suburbs of Detroit.
He is particularly grateful for his years at the White Plains Youth Bureau, where he received enormous support and guidance from Sheila Foley, Catherine Bakkes and Raymond Tribble. He also was given numerous opportunities in leadership and community service and was mentored by Frank Williams, who remains a close friend, confidant and spiritual mentor. He was fundamentally shaped by his years at the Youth Bureau, where he and his peers were given the opportunity to bring positive change in the city of White Plains through projects of community service and being a voice of the youth in the city to the Mayor. He wishes many more years of success to the Youth Bureau and would like to thank them for the foundation they have laid in his life.
