David Ellenbogen is a prolific musician, producer and radio host in New York City. He is the founder and Executive Producer of the Ragas Live Festival, an annual 24 Hour/24 Set experience featuring over 80 musicians, and the Artistic Director of the Brooklyn Raga Massive artist collective.
David got his first opportunity in media while at White Plains High School, when he was a member of the Mayor’s Youth Council. The White Plains Youth Bureau’s Director, Frank Williams, Jr., recommended that he give a shot to hosting a local cable television show. Since that first break, David has continued a presence in media, including over 20 years on air at WKCR 89.9 FM-NY and as the host of his own podcast. The podcast, NYC Radio Live, features over 200 live performances and archives his interviews with musicians from over 40 countries.
A musician fascinated by all the world’s music, David has studied and performed in over a dozen countries including India, Mali, Cuba and Brazil. David’s work as a guitarist and artist director of Brooklyn Raga Massive has led to praise in the New York Times for “Preserving the past while blurring genres in an inventive spirit” and the Wall Street Journal for “Expanding the notion of what raga—the immersive, epic form of Indian music—can mean.”
