Keryn RoseKeryn Rose

Keryn was born and raised in White Plains and was an active member of the Youth Bureau throughout her high school years. Driven by her aspirations to promote social justice regarding issues of race, diversity and inclusion, she attended the University of Maryland, College Park and graduated Cum Laude with a degree in African American Studies and Public Policy. From there she went on to obtain her JD from Harvard Law School where she was an active member and event planter for the Black Allied Law Students association.
Following her belief that education is the greatest tool to dismantle systems of inequality, she went on to pursue a career in teaching. In 2007, she began working with a network of schools that has since evolved into one of the strongest charter school systems in New York City, Icahn Charter Schools. She continues her advocacy for youth by organizing and designing arts programming for the student population additionally, she is one of the founding members of the MATE (Mid-Atlantic Advocacy Through Education) scholarship program, designed to provided resources to students transitioning to universities in the Maryland/DC area.
Her involvement with the White Plains Youth Bureau was a source of inspiration and motivation throughout her formative years. Frank Williams has continued to provide the type of mentorship and support that has had a lasting impact. The trip to Connecticut College sponsored by the Youth Bureau in the early 90’s was especially memorable and contributed to Keryn’s dedication to the path of higher education. She will always be grateful for their support, camaraderie and guidance.
