Dante Hudson

Dante Hudson was born in Yonkers, New York. For most of his elementary school years, he lived in Yonkers with his sibling and mother, who openly struggled with addictions. By fourth grade, the state separated him from his mother, forcing both him and his sibling to live with their grandmother and father in White Plains, NY. In the early parts of this separation, Dante struggled with fitting into this new urban setting. Through middle school and the first parts of high school, he failed most of his classes, was not active, and struggled with his own identity.
When Dante turned 14, he received his first job with the White Plains Youth Bureau, where he was placed at the White Plains Family YMCA as a summer camp counselor. It was then where he developed a passion for working with children and serving the greater community. From that point forward, Dante worked hard in school and began volunteering with the White Plains Family YMCA. His journey continued with the Youth Bureau, where he participated in the A.V.E. (Careers exploration) program, which allowed him and his classmates to do qualitative research on a career of their choice. The YB also secured a job for Dante as an afterschool counselor, assisting the Site Director in the day to day operations in a grant-funded program. Through his dedication and volunteerism, he became the youngest recipient of the 2005 Youth Achievement Award for exemplary leadership at the White Plains Family YMCA.
As the years progressed, Dante attained leadership positions in organizations such as The Boys and Girls Club and the YMCA of Greater New York. Presently, he is the Chief Program Officer at the YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester. Dante has had over 15 years of nonprofit experience and his passion has always been on programs that serve the community. Dante is grateful to the White Plains Youth Bureau for providing him with a safe haven, guidance and support during times of adversity.
