Troy NewbeyTroy Newbey

Mr. Troy Newbey was born and raised in White Plains, New York. He was the first in his lineage to go to college and obtain a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and two master’s degrees in General/Special Education and School Building Leadership from Mercy College. Being raised by a single mother and being the youngest of four was a challenge, not to say the least. During his childhood, he experienced the loss of his older brother, the stroke his mother suffered when in 5th grade, and the transition to Rochambeau School, as he was expelled as a Junior from high school. The White Plains Youth Bureau and the Reach for Success Program helped to shape his life and were the pillars he leaned on to find his identity, while embracing his challenges and learning from them. Being part of such an enriching program supported his reliance and drive to overcome his circumstances in retaining a sense of motivation and believe in himself.
He has been an educator for more than 20 years as a teacher and administrator. Five years at Andrus Children, and fifteen in the Mt. Vernon City School District where he is currently the Assistant Principal at Cecil H. Parker Elementary School.
Mr. Troy Newbey strives to lead by example to instill morals and values and build a climate and culture of success where children are given the tools they need to navigate the world where they can make positive decisions that will afford them opportunities to be successful and productive citizens of a society that is forever changing. Giving them a sense of hope that the possibilities of achievement are endless and that their lives matter!
