White Plains Cares Coalition

White Plains Cares Coalition brings together members of various community organizations representing different sectors to help reduce factors that place youth at risk for delinquent behaviors and interfere with their ability to achieve optimal health.  The Coalition strives to increase support for positive youth development so they can become self-supporting and productive members of the community.

Meetings are held once per quarter.  Date and Time is TBD.

We work collectively with local schools, healthcare providers, business, parents, youth prevention providers, churches, media, youth/community organizations, law enforcement, government to create a network of support and connected community that values and prioritizes wellness.

Institute for Health and Wellness

The Institute for Health and Wellness provides prevention services aimed at reducing and eliminating the risk factors that place youth at risk for illicit substance use and other risky behaviors. The programs are funded by the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Support, Westchester County Invest In Kids, and other local and private grants.

Healthy & Fit for Life Program

This program offers 3 components: Boxing – for ages 12 – 21 Karate – for elementary grades Personal training – ages 10 – 21 (younger children need to be assessed by coach and Program Director).

Free counseling is available for ages 6-21 and families.

Open Gym available Monday – Friday.

Personal Training: Mon/ Tues / Wed/ Thursday 3:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Boxing: Mon/ Tues / Wed/ Thursday 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm
*Karate: (BEGINNERS) Wednesday and Friday  4:00 – 5:00; 
(ADVANCED) Wednesday and Friday  5:00 – 6:00; 

*Karate is taught by the Sensei Evelyn Schwartz

This program is FREE. Students are responsible for supplying personal equipment such as shin guards, mouth guards etc – and uniforms – list will be provided

Applications are available at the Youth Bureau or downloaded from this page.

Complete registration form signed by parent (parent signature required for youth under 18 years only). Students 18 and older must present a valid ID.

White Plains Youth Bureau’s Institute for Health & Wellness (IFHW) is committed to supporting the 8 dimensions of wellness — physical, emotional, social, environmental, intellectual, spiritual, financial, and occupational, to ensure optimal health.

The Institute includes two community coalitions, Coalition for Living Wellness and White Plains Cares Coalition. Both coalitions provide robust and evidence-based programs and events to increase access to overall health and wellness services, substance misuse prevention education.
