Jacqwel Brown

Jacqwel BrownJacqwel Brown was raised in White Plains, NY. He attended White Plains Public Schools and attended Syracuse University where he graduated with a degree in European History, focus in Medieval and Renaissance Studies and a minor in Religion.
Throughout college, Jacqwel worked as a site director/Math and English Section Tutor for Let’s Get Ready SAT Prep in White Plains where he helped first generation college students study for the SAT’s and get prepared for college. He also followed in the footsteps of 2 of his Youth Bureau mentors and became a brother of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated.

Upon graduation from Syracuse, Jacqwel moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in youth development. Working for Communities in Schools of Los Angeles (CISLA), Jacqwel has really spearheaded the programming efforts for young men and women of color. He currently manages all corporate and volunteer engagement efforts for CISLA and serves as the Salesforce Administrator.

None of this would have been possible without the support of everyone at the Youth Bureau. Jacqwel credits the Youth Bureau with instilling in him the value of hard work and education. Participating in programs like Clubmen, Youth Employment, Mayor’s Youth Council and many others, Jacqwel was able to build friendships and learn skills that still impact him to this day.

“I hope the kids in White Plains today realize just how lucky they are to have a place like the White Plains Youth Bureau. They gave me my first job and some of my first opportunities to really be a leader. I don’t know where I would be without Mr. Williams, Patty, Sheila, Mr. Smalls, Mr. Tribble and everyone else that supported me.”
