Throughout its 50 year history, the White Plains Youth Bureau has engaged its community partners to help youth reach their full potential. Frank Williams, Jr. Youth Bureau Director, states “we are dependent on school, volunteers, businesses, community organizations, and houses of worship, mentors and friends to help support the positive development of our youth. Often times, people who contribute to improving the life of our youth go unnoticed. They contribute to building a better community without fanfare or recognition.” In keeping with the Youth Bureau’s ongoing celebration of its 50th Anniversary, the Youth Bureau is launching an Unsung Heroes Campaign. The campaign will honor individuals and organizations who do good works and “fly under the radar”. Individuals to be recognized include school bus drivers, cafeteria workers, custodians, school crossing guards, Secretaries and Administrative Assistants, Youth Recreation leaders and church Youth Ministry leaders. Honorees will be acknowledged on a regular basis.
