Dr. Julia Anderson-Lee

Julia Anderson-LeeDr. Julia Anderson-Lee is a native of White Plains, NY and is currently an engineer at The Northrop Grumman Corporation. She has been involved in community programs since she was five years old. She attended Highlands Middle School where she participated in the club woman program sponsored by the Youth Bureau. This program was a precursor to many of the current programs intended to provide guidance and mentoring for young men and women in the White Plains community. As a result of her community involvement and scholarly achievements, including being a scholar athlete and co-captain of the white plains high school track team, Julia was awarded one of the first Youth Bureau scholarships which granted her $1000 for books and a brand new laptop to take with her to college.

After graduating from White Plains High School, Julia attended Spelman College. In 2010, Julia graduated Spelman College with a degree in mathematics and headed for graduate school at Iowa State University in Ames, IA. Braving the cold weather, Julia began her graduate education in applied mathematics and civil engineering. While at ISU, she joined the Black Graduate Student Association and helped start the Mathematicians of Color Alliance (MOCA). After 6 years in Iowa, she attended a recruiting event for The Boeing Company where she met her current boss.

In the fall of 2019, Julia accepted a position as a Senior Principal Engineer at the Northrop Grumman Corporation. Julia comes back to speak at events like the White Plains Family Tech Night and looks forward to continuing to pour back into the community that invested so much in her.
