Melvin Jones

Melvin JonesMelvin moved to White Plains from Washington D.C. during his high school years. While attending White Plains High School, Melvin lived in a homeless hotel with his family. After graduation, Melvin went on to join the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and obtain his degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University. The White Plains Youth Bureau played an integral part in helping Melvin to rise above his circumstances and environment. As a member of the Reach for Success program sponsored by the Youth Bureau and White Plains High School, Melvin obtained guidance, feedback, and the confidence necessary to look towards the future.

Melvin has moved on to accomplish many accolades as a certified Human Resources professional before launching his own company specializing in change management consulting services. He has worked with several Fortune 100 companies in locations including the Philippines, Nicaragua, Canada, and the UK to successfully drive large-scale change initiatives including mergers, acquisitions, shut-downs, and system implementations.

Enabling youth has also been a focus for Melvin as he has developed in his career. He has participated in several activities to help young people achieve their dreams such as serving as a Big Brother, initiating a scholarship fund for high school youth, and delivering educational seminars to youth groups. All these efforts directly reflect the influence the Youth Bureau team had on Melvin. He is forever indebted to Frank Williams, Gail, Mr. Moschetti, Sheila, and so many others who provided encouragement and direction over the years.
